Split System are back today with their new single "End of the Night," a fierce force of primitive rock 'n' roll fury that marks a new high for the young Melbourne garage punk band. This is also the second single from their forthcoming album, Vol. 2, that will be out on February 9th through Goner Records here in the states, Legless Records in Australia, and Drunken Sailor Records in the UK/Europe.
Melbourne garage punks Split System are back today with their new single "End of the Night," a fierce force of primitive rock 'n' roll fury that marks a new high for the band. Composed of vocalist Jackson Reid Briggs, guitarists Arron Mawson and Ryan Webb, bassist Deon Slaviero, and drummer Mitch McGregor, the five-piece's brand of hard-hitting raw punk is once again on display, with their love of indestructible pub-wrought punk and Oi! bleeding through the mix. Lyrically, the single is about tying one on and reality inevitably setting in when the sun rises and the birds start chirping.
"The song came together after a regional Australian gig we played at the end of 2022," the band wrote via email. "Part of it is about never wanting a good night to end. Staying on for too long and regretting the impact it has on your day to day life. Jackson completed the lyrics while wandering around a park in Serbia not long after. I guess it's a reflection of the ongoing battle for balance in life."
This is Split System's second single from their forthcoming album, Vol. 2, that will be out on February 9th through Goner Records (Alien Nosejob, C.O.F.F.I.N., Gee Tee), Legless Records (Stiff Richards, Stepmother, Smooch) in Australia, and Drunken Sailor Records (Chain Whip, The Prize, Class) in the UK/Europe.
